the devil in reality \u201ccontent of an entertaining character&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>November 30, 2017<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Pro-regime broadcaster TV Happy, one of the most watched commercial television channels, screened \u2013 as part of the show \u201cParovi\u201d [Couples] \u2013 a self-proclaimed healer and exorcist \u201cexorcising the devil\u201d from participants in this reality show.<\/h2>\n<p>In the programme, which is watched by millions of viewers, he conducted \u201cseances\u201d over the participants, as well as the \u201cpatients\u201d brought to him by the production team.<\/p>\n<p>Media experts and media studies professors at colleges in Serbia consider this scandalous and irresponsible, stating that such programming misleads the public and is all reminiscent of the 1990s, when virtually everything was permitted in the country\u2019s media.<\/p>\n<p>During the 1990s, while the country was in crisis, \u201cclairvoyants\u201d were often present on the screens, along with charlatan doctors and healers who prophesised the futures of viewers and \u201ctreated\u201d them.<\/p>\n<p>And while the domestic public wonders why the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media is not reacting, despite being legally obliged to sanction media companies that broadcast such content, representatives of this institution say that they have no grounds to prosecute
